For the first time in history, Touch Football Australia's National Touch League is open to teams representing local associations, and Townsville will be there!
Townsville Touch Football has recently appointed Tim Villalba (Head Coach) and Kevin Hunter (Assistant), to lead a Men's Open side to contest the new format of the NTL.
The team, to be selected following three open "train and trial" sessions in December, will tour to Coffs Harbour in March 2024 to compete against the best teams from across the country.
The Men's Open side will hold three open "train and trial" sessions at Queens Park :
- Wednesday 6 December 2023, 6pm to 7:30pm
- Wednesday 13 December 2023, 6pm to 7:30pm
- Wednesday 20 December 2023, 6pm to 7:30pm
Players wishing to trial must be aged 16 or over, and have played in Townsville Touch Football's most recent Colliers Shield season, or playing the current TTF Mixed Open (Monday night) or Men's Open (Wednesday night) season.
Interested players should contact Tim Villalba or Kevin Hunter, or email representative@townsvilletouch.com.au, ahead of the open trial dates.
The new NTL format, now known as "The Championships", is open to local associations, regions, and states, and will be played from Friday 8th March to Sunday 10th March at the NTL's traditional home, the C.ex Coffs International Stadium complex in Coffs Harbour, NSW.
Players will only need to organise their travel to Brisbane Airport, with Townsville Touch Football having already organised return travel between Brisbane and Coffs Harbour and accomodation at the event.
More information about the tour, including expected costs, will be provided to players at the trial dates.
